A swedish researches reported in hypertension, for the American heart association that new born of those women who take high smoked on pregnancy time, show sing of circulatory dysfunction in the first few week of life that get worse thought out the first year.

Disadvantages Of Blood Pressure,Visit http://www.healthuse.com/2010/01/blood-pressure-control-for-next-generation-of-smokers/

The blood pressure response to tilting the infant’s upright during sleep, a test of how the body copes with repositioning, was dramatically different in infants born to smoking mothers compared to those born to nonsmoking parents, the study found.
Tobacco experienced only a 2% higher in blood pressure when they were tilted upright at one week of age and later a 10% high in blood pressure at one year.
Babies of those women who take high smoke have evidence of persistent problems in blood pressure regulation that start at birth and get worse over time.

ScienceDaily (July 6, 2010) — A new study by UCSF cardiologists and researchers found that high concentrations of cocoa flavanols decrease blood pressure, improve the health of blood vessels and increase the number of circulating blood-vessel-forming cells in patients with heart disease. The findings indicate that foods rich in flavanols — such as cocoa products, tea, wine, and various fruits and vegetables — have a cardio-protective benefit for heart disease patients.

Findings will be published online July 5th and in the July 13, 2010 issue of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology (JACC). ScienceDaily

Do you know what peripheral artery disease is? What you don't know about this condition could kill you.

Coronary artery disease is a fairly well known condition. However, it has a cousin that is much less well known; peripheral artery disease. Both conditions can do the same things, become constricted by plaque and throw blood clots. One of the problems is that P.A. D. is harder to detect, particularly when it involves blood vessels deep in the legs.

Symptoms:

Many people with this disorder have few or no symptoms at all. However, some may occur especially as the problem progresses. Pain when walking, loss of hair on the legs, a reduction in toenail growth and shiny skin can all indicate P.A.D. Weak pulse in the legs and feet or cold skin in the region also may occur.

Causes:

The most common cause is hardening of the arteries. As mentioned above, most of the focus for this problem is on the heart, but it can and does affect every blood vessel in your body. As the plaque builds up, it restricts blood flow.

Injuries to your legs can also cause the problem, due this time at least in part to scarring. Other causes are rare, but include swelling in your blood vessels or oddities with your tendons and ligaments.

Your risk of developing this condition worsen with age, if you smoke or if you are diabetic. Overweight people are also at higher risk. Those with a family history of the condition have an increased chance.

What can happen:

Three major problems may occur if you have this condition, especially if it is untreated. You are at risk of losing the limb if circulation is slowed enough. A blood clot can finish the shut off of the artery, but it can also break loose. If that happens, chances are good that it will proceed to your heart, your brain and/or your lungs. If that happens, a heart attack, stroke or pulmonary embolism are probable.

What you can do:

Knowing you have the disorder is the first step to treating it. A variety of tests will probably be done, including an angiogram. Once it has been diagnosed, your doctor will give you a list of things to do and things to avoid.

You may find yourself on a whole battery of medications, depending on the cause. Blood thinners, blood pressure medications, cholesterol lowering drugs and some for pain are probable. If you are a diabetic, medications that lower blood sugar could be added.

If the problem is bad enough, you may require angioplasty or surgery. Angioplasty is done usually while you are a wake and through an incision in your groin. It will be threaded through your blood vessels until it gets to the problem area, where it will open it with a balloon. A stent may be placed in the artery to keep it open.

Lifestyle changes may also be required. Controlling your blood pressure, sugar and cholesterol levels will be required, so a new diet will be in order. Monitored exercise may also be recommended, probably through physical therapy.

This disorder is not well known, but it may be quietly harming many. If you are at risk, talk to your doctor about prevention methods. Finding it before it’s too late is the best way to remain healthy.

It might seem like an obvious question, but many people do not take the time to ask why is high blood pressure dangerous? People have this general idea about their blood pressure and that it can lead to harm and danger, but people don’t know exactly what it does. Additionally, people operate under the assumption that because so many people have it that it’s not really serious. Unfortunately, this could not be farther from the truth. If you’ve never taken the time to ask or find out the answer to the question of why is high blood pressure dangerous, take a quick look at these harrowing consequences.

The answers for why is high blood pressure dangerous can be shocking if you weren’t expecting them. The ultimate consequence can be death. Yes, high blood pressure can kill you. It does this in several different ways, such as by greatly increasing your risk of heart attack and stroke. This is because your arteries become thickened and can become clogged or blocked. Once this happens, heart attacks and strokes can unfortunately be just around the corner.

Your heart will also struggle under the increased pressure and workload and can eventually just outright fail. Other important organs such as your kidney can become weakened and fail as well. Blood vessels in your brain can become blocked or ruptured, aneurysms can occur as blood vessels weaken and bulge, and much more.

You also might be wondering about what causes high blood pressure. Causes are very diverse, and can be different from person to person. In some cases it can be entirely genetic. In other instances it’s a direct result of diet, such as having too much sodium. Sometimes it’s a side effect of obesity, and the poor diet that accompanies that as well. Often times causes are not entirely understood, and of course they can all combine together.

Finally, it’s also important to know what the danger zone is for high blood pressure problems. Hypertension is generally recognized as blood pressure higher than 140/90. Lower than 120/80 is considered healthy, so therefore anything in between those two figures is considered that danger zone. Unfortunately there are not many warning signs when you reach this level. This is why you have to be checked out by your doctor regularly, so you can catch problems even without warning signs before it’s too late.

So why is high blood pressure dangerous? Because it can and in most cases will eventually kill you if it’s left unchecked and gets bad enough. It can cause heart attacks and strokes, or lead to failure of your heart, aneurysms, other organ failures and much more. If you want to mitigate all of these risks, start improving the way that you live day to day as soon as possible. It’s never too late to change and blood pressure can be improved greatly in a short amount of time once you start to implement changes and solutions.

High blood pressure (hypertension) is one of the most common diseases affecting the western world. High blood pressure is usually symptomless whilst slowly damaging the eyes, brain, and kidneys. Many governments have initiated policies to raise public awareness. The aim of this article is to give the person suffering (or who may be suffering) hypertension some knowledge about the condition enabling them to make objective decisions regarding their treatment.

High blood pressure appears not to have a clear-cut cause. It is more common in people who smoke, drink excessive alcohol, are overweight, and are sedentary. However, non-smoking teetotal athletes can suffer from hypertension. Certain ethnic groups have a very high incidence of high blood pressure, with research not revealing any reasons for this.

Drugs (Pharmaceuticals) To Treat High Blood Pressure

ACE (Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme) Inhibitirs: enalapril maleate, captopril, quinapril, lisinopril, amongst others. Function: to block an enzyme in the bloodstream that produces angiotensin II, a chemical that raises blood pressure by constricting blood vessels. Side effects: long-term cough, acute swelling of face, lips, and throat.

Angiotensin II Blockers: candesartan, irbesartan, losartan potassium, valasartan. Function: to block the effect of angiotensin. Side effects: are rare.

Alpha Blockers: clonidine, prasozin, doxazosin, terazosin. Function: to chemically block responses to stressors that causeraised blood pressure and heartrate. Side effects: dry mouth, dizziness, fatigue, nausea, impaired sexual function. Alpha blockers can precipitate dramatic increase in blood pressure treatment if suddenly discontinued.

Beta Blockers: propranolol, betaxolol, carvedilol, atenolol, metoprolol, labetolol. Function: to block chemical processes that lead to increased heart pressure and heartrate. Often given after a heart attack. Side effects: tiredness, excessively slow heartrate, impaired sexual functioning. Beta blockers can precipitate dramatic increase in blood pressure if suddenly discontinued.

Calcium-Channel Blockers: amolodipine besylate, diltiazem, verapamil, nifedipine. Function: to relax blood vessel walls to make them dilate (expand), lowering blood pressure. Side effects: are constipation, dizziness, nausea, fluid retention.

Diuretics: bendrofluazide, bumetanide, cyclopenthiazide, frusemide, hydrochlorothiazide, indapamide, metolazone, mefruside. Function: is to stimulate kidneys to excrete more salt and water, lowering blood volume and blood pressure. Side effects: are low levels of potassium and magnesium, elevations in uric acid, increases in blood cholesterol.

Hypertension Friendly Lifestyle

Hypertension has been shown to be related to many causes. So a change in lifestyle, other than one single thing, often helps someone lower their blood pressure. Three things that research throws up again and again is that people who drink to excess, smoke and are overweight are at a much higher risk of developing high blood pressure. If you eat fewer calories yo will soon start to lose weight, just don’t expect to be as thin as Lance Armstrong in two weeks! For the heavy drinker cutting down on alcohol consumption can have many benefits, it will help lower your blood pressure, it will help you lose weight, and it will save you a fortune. Smoking has, for many decades, been known to be generally bad for health. The reason it raises blood pressure is that it causes a constriction (narrowing) of the arteries. If you really can’t stop smoking, at least cut down. Research indicates that eating ‘empty’ calories (refined carbohydrates, sugar, sugary drinks,’junk’ food) can be a cause of high blood pressure and contribute to being overweight. Try eating high-fiber foods such as whole grains and raw vegetables. Fibre makes you feel full, so in turn you may actually eat less and lose weight. Eating deep-sea (cold water) fish rich in essential fatty acids (EFA’s) such as mackeral, cod tuna, and salmon have been shown to help with blood pressure. It is thought that the omega-3 fatty acid in these relax artery walls and make blood thinner. Eat foods rich in magnesium, potassium, and calcium such as nuts and seeds, green leafy vegetables, whole grains, legumes, amongst others. One area that every professional agrees upon is that engaging in regular aerobic exercise for 30 minutes 3 times per week will help lower blood pressure.

Natural Remedies To Treat High Blood Pressure

Dandelion: Taraxacum officinale: is a popular remedy for fluid retention. By increasing urine flow dandelion also helps lower blood pressure. Dandelion benefits from not causing potassium loss, which pharmaceutical diuretics usually do. Make sure that if you use dandelion leaves that they have not been treated with pesticides.

Garlic: Allium sativum: has been used for 1,000′s of years for many conditions. To get the best from garlic, 3 cloves should be eaten raw everyday. The same effect can be achieved by taking garlic gel capsules.

Reishi: Ganoderma lucidum: is a mushroom. Scientific studies have shown that reishi lowers blood pressure. The mushroom itself is nearly inedible and is usually taken in capsule form.

Hawthorn: Crataegus spp: lowers blood pressure by relaxing and dilating artery walls. Hawthorn can take many weeks or months to show any effect.

Hypercet: is a proprietary blend of many natural ingredients including the following active ingredients. Calcium A recent article by Christopher Ott describes the many ways calcium protects your health, including the role it plays in protecting your heart.

Gene Spiller, PhD, the Director of the Health Research and Studies Center says, "In fact, your calcium intake may be almost as important to blood pressure as your sodium intake," He is co-author of Calcium: Nature’s Versatile Mineral (Avery, 2000)

Spiller also said, "An adequate supply of calcium helps muscles-including your heart muscle-do their work of contracting and relaxing. Calcium also appears to help your nervous system regulate the level of pressure in your arteries."

Calcium is a naturally occurring mineral with no known side effects.
Magnesium is the fourth most abundant mineral in the body, and is essential to good health.

A diet high in green leafy vegetables such as spinach, whole grains, nuts, and some legumes supplies magnesium. Tap water can be a good source, if the water is "hard." "Soft" water contains fewer minerals.

Magnesium is a naturally occurring mineral with no known side effects

Malic Acid
"An apple a day keeps the doctor away." There’s more truth in that old saying than you might think. Malic acid is derived from tart apples and grapes, and is an essential part of the magnesium support team.

Malic acid is an important part of the Krebs cycle, a series of chemical reactions carried out in the living cell, and is used by the body to increase ATP, an enzyme that supports muscle health, reduces muscle stress, and assists to improve energy levels in the body. Malic Acid is a naturally occurring substance with no known side effects.

Citric acid, although acid in its fresh form (lemon and limes) transforms during metabolism into alkali. This is helpful to your blood. Our American diet tends to be overly acidic from coffee, sodas, alcohol, and certain proteins. An acidic condition tends to be more inflammatory. Citric acid is essential to the Krebs cycle, Citric acid, together with malic acid, are involved with complex chemical actions, resulting in the production of carbon dioxide, and its removal from the cells. Citric acid is also used as a natural preservative to maintain freshness of many products, and serves this role, as well, in the Hypercet BPF. Citric Acid is a naturally occurring substance with no known side effects.

Glycine is a non-essential amino acid found naturally in beans, brewer’s yeast, dairy products, meat, seafood, nuts and whole grains. It’s involved in the production of glucose in the liver. Glycine is plays an important role in supporting healthy blood in your body. It is involved in the manufacture of nitrogen to process many other amino acids, and usefulin the processing of hemoglobin, glutathione, DNA, and RNA. It helps with brain function, and is important for a healthy prostate gland. Glycine is a naturally occurring substance with no known side effects.

It has been shown that there can be many causes of high blood pressure, not just one. Treatment is similar in that a lifestyle switch is usually better than a pharmaceutical cure. For the non-smoking, teetotal athlete who suffers hypertension the pharmaceutical may be the only way left open. For the rest of us who may be a little overweight, drink a little too much (I include myself in this group!), or smoke, have options available. Take some natural remedies, take a little more exercise, eat a little healthier, cut back on the cigarettes, and cut back on the booze. Try to change one thing at a time, within a few months your lifestyle could be dramatically more blood pressure friendly.

The reader who suffers with high blood pressure should now have some more knowledge about their condition and the different therapies available to them, enabling them to make objective choices in their own treatment.

If you’ve been diagnosed with high blood pressure you already understand the importance of maintaining a healthy weight and limiting your salt intake. Your doctor has explained the benefits of regular exercise, stress reduction and prescription medications. But your doctor may not have counseled you about the role of dietary fiber in a low-blood pressure regimen. Here’s what you need to know about high blood pressure and dietary fiber.

WHAT IS FIBER, ANYWAY?

Fiber is simply the un-digestible cellulose of the plant foods you eat every day. Nutritionists classify fiber as either "soluble" or "insoluble" and both types are helpful when it comes to managing high blood pressure. Not only do fiber-rich fruits and vegetables tend to be lower in saturated fats than meat-based foods; they can also help you feel full faster. You may actually find that you eat less of the high-fat foods you may crave.

But fiber does more than just help you with portion control or help you feel full after a meal. A 2007 study found that people who adopt a diet rich in dietary fiber tend to have larger, more open arteries than people who eat diets lower in fiber.

Perhaps the best news is that the fruits and vegetables that are high in fiber are usually also good sources of nutrients like omega fatty acids, folate and other heart-protective substances.

HOW MUCH FIBER SHOULD YOU EAT?

The American Dietetic Association recommends that Americans interested in the heart-protective actions of fiber consume more than 20 grams of dietary fiber per day. That’s about twice as much as the typical American diet provides.

To get more fiber in your diet, try to consume at least 2 cups of fruit per day and more than 2 cups of vegetables. Snacks like air-popped corn, nuts and whole-grain cereals can also add a substantial amount of fiber to your diet.

Even a woman who routinely aces her medical tests may earn less-than-perfect scores at cutting-edge preventive health centers. At some health centers the goal is to get women to lower risk factors beyond standard recommendations. Here are some answers to your questions on the numbers that translate into maximum protection.

What cholesterol levels do you look for? New national guidelines say that LDL (bad) cholesterol levels less than 100 are optimal, and that patients with a previous heart attack or diabetes should strive for levels below 70. We say that less than 75 is optimal for healthy people. For HDL (good) cholesterol, guide lines are that over 50 is normal for women; we want levels of 65 or higher.

What about blood pressure? You should pretty much go with the guidelines: under 120/80. But doctors tell patients that even lower is better. If your pressure rises in the doctor’s office, keep in mind that it’s probably also going up when you’re stressed at work or stuck in traffic-that can be a risk.

How can women achieve these superlow numbers? If you have only a borderline risk, you should talk about diet, exercise, and stress reduction. Often, just by making lifestyle changes, women can get a 20 percent improvement in their cholesterol levels.

Does that always work? No. Even women who eat well and are fit may have problems with cholesterol. In that case, it’s probably genetic. That’s when medication can really add to what you do on your own.

What’s the takeaway message for women? Stay on top of your tests. Ask to get a copy of lab results, not just a call saying everything’s OK. Since labs vary, it’s best to track changes in your cholesterol by the ratio of total cholesterol to HDL (divide the total by the HDL number). What do you look for? The American Heart Association says you should aim for a ratio below 5:1; we believe the optimal is 3.5:1. And if your ratio, weight, or blood pressure start to creep up, take action. It’s much harder to reverse things once you have heart disease or diabetes.

Hypertension is a very common problem. It is estimated that about 25% of adults suffer from high blood pressure and 30% of them don’t even know it. Hypertension is known as a silent killer, because it usually doesn’t give early warning signs.

This condition is associated with heart attacks, strokes and kidney problems.

It can also affect the blood vessels of the eyes and impair vision or even lead to blindness. Unfortunately, the symptoms appear in advanced stages when it’s quite late. When the symptoms do occur, they usually include dizziness, headaches and nosebleeds.

If you are trying to lower your blood pressure using natural ways, then you will find the following tips very helpful:

Try to maintain a normal weight: being overweight is a major risk factor, because excess body fat leads to hypertension. If you lose 20 pounds, it can cause a reduction of 5-20 mm Hg. Indeed, for every pound you lose you can reduce systolic pressure by at least 1 mm Hg.

Reduce your caffeine intake: drinking about 1 cup of coffee per day is generally safe. However, studies show that consuming more than 300 mg of caffeine daily (2-3 cups) can have a negative impact.

Eat a lot of garlic: for this to work, you need rather high dosages of garlic, so it would be a good idea to take a supplement.

Drink a little red wine: moderate consumption of alcohol (1 drink for women and 2 drinks per day for men) can have beneficial effects.

Eliminate salt from your diet: most people consume more salt than they actually need. In fact, according to the estimates, the average salt intake in the population is more than 10 grams per day. The daily recommended intake is about 5 grams. Reducing your salt intake to less than 3 grams per day, can decrease systolic blood pressure by 4 mm Hg and diastolic by 2 mm Hg in hypertensive patients.

Change your diet: try to consume more fresh fruits and vegetables. Eat foods low in fat, like low-fat yogurt and milk with 0% fat or 1% fat. Choose lean meat, fish, chicken and turkey without skin. Eat more oranges. There is a myth that oranges lead to hypertension, but exactly the opposite is true. Oranges contain a lot of potassium and clinical studies have shown that potassium is very effective in treating this condition.

Avoid noisy places: a new Swedish scientific study shows that people who live near noisy roads tend to have high blood pressure.

Now you need to pay close attention-

Blood pressure is the pressure exerted on the arteries. Blood pressure can differ from person to person. When your blood pressure is measured it is expressed in two numbers such as 120/80.The figure on the top denotes the pressure when the heart is pumping blood and its muscle is contracted.

If your blood pressure is measured as 140/90, then you are a patient of hypertension or high blood pressure and therefore you need to reduce your blood pressure level. However, you should be aware that blood pressure rises with age and so as you grow older you should keep a check on your blood pressure and reduce blood pressure if it is above the normal blood pressure level.

Reducing blood pressure to normal levels helps reduce the risk of serious health problems like heart or kidney disorders. You can reduce blood pressure in several ways. Firstly, if you are overweight, you should aim to reduce your weight to within the guidelines for your height, body structure, and age. BMI, or Body Mass Index, is the best way to decide what is the ideal weight for you. This measure takes into account your height and weight.

However, don’t start a crash diet, as this can create further problems for your body. Reduce your weight slowly through eating a sensible diet and doing some form of exercise. Exercise will help you shift unwanted pounds and will also plays a positive role in reducing high blood pressure. Try to incorporate exercise into your daily regime, start easily with walking and build up ton include more aerobic exercises.

To further reduce blood pressure, reduce your intake of salty foods and avoid or cut down on alcohol. Including foods rich in calcium and potassium, as well as fish oils and magnesium can help reduce high blood pressure.

You have to maintain a healthy lifestyle in order to control your blood pressure. Some of the important and essential tips are following a healthy diet with low salt and sodium, maintaining healthy weight, and being active physically, limiting alcohol intake and putting a stop to smoking.

It is very important to keep your blood pressure level normal or reduce blood pressure if it rises because high blood pressure can cause severe health problems and damage the body. One of the important revelations in regards to reducing blood pressure is intake of sesame oil. Using sesame oil instead of other edible oil helps in reducing blood pressure or lowering blood pressure. Sesame oil contains approximately 43 percent polyunsaturated fatty acids, which has an impact on the blood pressure and contributes to reducing blood pressure

Although lifestyle changes helps in reducing blood pressure they are not usually enough. It is important to continue taking any medication prescribed by your doctor. Therefore, a healthy lifestyle along with medications can reduce blood pressure.

If you are suffering with High Blood Pressure, you should first consult your primary care physician before taking other steps.

This article will furnish you comprehensive Dietary Advice For Prehypertensive and Hypertensive Blood Pressure Levels. Here you will find Diet Tips To Reduce Blood Pressure.

Diet For High Blood Pressure, Relation Between Diet and Blood Pressure
If you have Bad eating habits then it contributes significantly to unhealthily high blood pressure levels, even in middle age, when blood pressure levels typically rise as part of the aging process. Whether or not you are taking antihypertensive drugs, the need to make dietary improvements (eg. follow a healthy low-fat diet) is frequently at the top of a doctor’s list of recommendations to reduce or prevent the onset of high blood pressure.

Before outlining the best type of diet for hypertension, let’s take a brief look at health consequences of raised blood pressure.

Hazards of Hypertension & High Blood Pressure
In under developed as well as developed countries, an estimated 20-40 percent of all adults suffer from persistent high blood pressure. High blood pressure puts a strain on the heart causing atherosclerosis(thickenning of vessels). Result is damage to heart, Coronary artery disease, Kidney failure, Strok, Eye damage. Choice is yours, try to save these vital organs by controlling your BP. Remember Hypertension is a silent Killer, it shows its effects silently and when you come to know that you have BP, by that time hypertension often affects your vital organs.

Normal Blood Pressure Levels vs. Prehypertensive and Hypertensive
Normal blood pressure of an healthy adult at rest, is 120 (systolic) over 80 (diastolic) or less. Blood pressure levels greater than 120/80 and below 140/90 are at prehypertensive stage, while levels above 140/90 are considered hypertensive stage. Both prehypertensive and hypertensive subjects should make diet, exercise and lifestyle changes to reduce or prevent the onset of hypertension and reduce the risk of heart disease.

Weight increases blood Pressure
Over weight persons will be having high blood pressure. Weight reduction significantly decreases blood pressure.People with obesity double their risk of developing the disorder. In addition, roughly 7 out of 10 obese adults suffer from high blood pressure. If you lose even 10 pounds can produce noticeable improvements.

Dietary Advice and Tips For High Blood Pressure
If you have high blood pressure and not overweight, here are few tips to control your BP.

Choose A Healthy Balanced Diet
If you want to reduce your blood pressure, your diet should be rich in fruits, vegetables, and low-fat dairy foods, while low in saturated and trans-fats. It should also be low in cholesterol, high in fiber, calcium, potassium and magnesium, and moderately high in protein. The American Heart Association and U.S. government recommend the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) diet as a good diet guide to reduce blood pressure.

First thing is to Reduce Your Intake of Sodium (Salt)
How salt intake increases blood pressure. Eating too much salt or sodium-rich foods leads to a greater uptake of fluid and causes greater retension of water inside body, leads to volume overloard and High blood presure. It also places extra strain on the arterioles (blood vessels that dilate/constrict to regulate blood pressure and blood flow). Both these effects lead to higher blood pressure. The Recoomended daily dose for sodium for most people is 2,400 mg.

You can Reduce Sodium Intake
How can you decrease sodium intake? Eat less pre-cooked or processed food, and eat more fresh food. Sodium is found naturally in fresh foods like grains, fruits, vegetables, meats, nuts, and dairy products, but in much lower quantities than in processed foods (eg. packet, bottled or canned food).

High Sodium Foods
These foods typically have a high sodium content. In order not to exceed the RDA, either avoid them altogether, or choose low-sodium varieties.
Sauces: baking soda, barbecue sauce, catsup, garlic salt, mustard, onion salt,Soy sauce, steak sauce, salad dressing, baking powder, mustard, onion salt, seasoned salts like lemon pepper, bouillon cubes, meat tenderizer, and monosodium glutamate.
Salted Snacks: peanuts, pretzels, pork rinds.Tortilla chips, corn chips
Soup: instant soups, Regular canned soups.
Pickled Food: Olives, or sauerkraut, Herring, pickles, relish,
Meats: smoked or cured meats (containing sodium-nitrite) such as bacon, bologna, hot dogs, ham, corned beef, luncheon meats, and sausage, Hogmaws, ribs, and chitterlings,.
Dairy: Most cheese spreads and cheeses.
Drinks: club soda, saccharin-flavored soda,
Cereals: Instant hot cereals, Regular ready to eat cold cereals,
Ready-to-Eat: boxed mixes like rice, scalloped potatoes, macaroni and cheese and some frozen dinners, pot pies and pizza. Quick cook rice, instant noodles,
Fats: Butter, fatback, and salt pork.

Check Labels of Food Containers:
Choose those foods which labeled as low-sodium, very low sodium, or salt-free. Check food labels for words that indicate a high sodium content, including: sodium nitrite, sodium proprionate, disodium phosphate, and sodium sulfate., monosodium glutamate (MSG), sodium benzoate, sodium hydroxide,

Lower Sodium Eating Habits
Do not add extra salt when cooking or preparing meals. Cook with more herbs and spices.
Do not have salt on the table while eating do not add salt on salad.
If you cook with salt, switch to chili, ginger and lemon juice for flavoring.
If you eat cured/smoked meats, switch to fresh cold meats.
If you eat ready-to-serve breakfast cereal, choose low-sodium types of cereal.
Rinse before eating, If you eat tuna, salmon, sardines, or mackerel canned in water.
If you eat soup, switch to low-sodium or fresh soups.
If you cook with whole milk or fat diet, switch to 1 percent or skimmed buttermilk.
Remember taking less salt diet, Your BP will be in normal Limits.

Blood pressure can be controlled by some natural measures. If you are in prehypertensive stage, it is better to control your blood pressure by natural means rather than taking antihypertensive drugs.

Blood pressure can be controlled by some natural measures. If you are in prehypertensive stage, it is better to control your blood pressure by natural means rather than taking antihypertensive drugs.

Stop smoking. Not only will this help keep your blood pressure in line, you’ll also diminish your risk of cancer and cardiovascular diseases. Smoking is main risk factor for atherosclerosis. Smoking injures blood vessel walls and speeds up the process of hardening of the arteries. So even though it does not cause high blood pressure, smoking is bad for anyone, especially those with high blood pressure.

If you smoke, quit. If you don’t smoke, don’t start. Once you quit, your risk of having a heart attack is reduced after the first year. So you have a lot to gain by quitting.

Weight Reduction. Obese patients should lose weight. There’s a direct link between being overweight and having high blood pressure. The more overweight you are, the greater the risk. Start by making small changes. Cut 200 to 300 calories from your diet each day — about the equivalent of saying “no” to two chocolate chip cookies.

Decrease salt intake. High salt intake is linked to high blood pressure. You should consume no more than 2,000 milligrams of sodium per day (about one teaspoon of salt). The average American consumes twice that, often through canned soups, frozen dinners, soy sauce, pickles, olives and processed cheeses, which are loaded with sodium. Read food labels and select reduced-sodium products. Try to select food with low salt.

Add more fruits, vegetables and low-fat dairy products to your plate. Eat one additional fruit or vegetable with every meal. Shrink the size of your daily meat intake to six ounces, and designate at least two dinners a week as meat-free.

Fatty diets do not directly affect blood pressure. However, saturated fats and cholesterol in foods raise blood cholesterol, which increases the risk for heart disease. Foods high in fats also are high in calories, which must be reduced if you need to lose weight. Like smoking high cholestrol is also a major risk factor for atherosclerosis.

Limit alcohol consumption. Drink no more than one 12-ounce beer, one 5-ounce glass of wine or one swallow (1.5 ounces) of 80-proof whiskey if you’re a woman. Men can double these amounts. Anything more elevates blood pressure. You can reduce your blood pressure by 5-10 mmHg by just restricting Alcohol intake.

Exercise. First, get the green light from your physician. Then, slowly introduce aerobic exercise into your life, increasing the time and intensity at a pace that feels right, aiming for at least a 30-minute workout most days of the week. Young people should jog for 30 minutes three times per week and elderly patients should walk longer distances than usual.

Decrease Stress and Anxiety: Yes stress and anxiety also play role in high blood presure. If You want your blood pressure with in normal limits, try your self to get happy all times. Try extra curricular activities to make your mind stress free.

Stress can make blood pressure go up for a while, and it has been thought to contribute to high blood pressure. But the long-term effects of stress are as yet unclear. Stress management techniques do not seem to prevent high blood pressure. However, such techniques may have other benefits, such as making you feel better or helping you to control over-eating.

Caffeine and Blood Pressure: Caffeine in coffee as well as in other drinks, such as tea and sodas, only raises blood pressure temporarily. So you should be able to continue to have drinks that contain caffeine, unless you are sensitive to it or have heart disease and your doctor tells you not to have any.

Eat adequate amounts of potassium-rich foods. Potassium, another mineral essential to good health, works in concert with sodium to regulate blood pressure. Studies have shown that people who consume more potassium have lower blood pressures than those who consume less.

Rich sources of potassium include many fruits, such as cantaloupe, bananas, watermelon, oranges and orange juice, as well as potatoes, spinach, and zucchini. (Important note: if taking medication for high blood pressure, such as diuretics, consult a doctor before using salt substitutes that contain high amounts of potassium.
